NNC’s hand embroidery exchange – DONE
August 26, 2011 by Zarina
Remember this post of the jumbled work?
Well, this is the result.
I have used an existing HDT which was rejected. There were a few white spots in the skein.
Details of the HDT:
- name: Ranunculus HDT Lizbeth size 40
- inspiration: flowers photographed by Bloom
This piece uses approximately 40 yards of the HDT. The fabric is linen even weave 14 count (I hope I got it correct).
The pattern is from an old book my mum brought back from the States. The stitches are classified as black work Spanish embroidery. I did not realize its black work until it was too late but then, this year I will only use from my stash.
Details of the book:
- publisher: Sterling Publishing Co. Inc.
- printed in 1977
- advisory editors: Angela Jeffs (chief), Wendy Martensson, and Patsy North
Here are the minimum five stitches that I have used.
Zarina, your blackwork is beautiful!!! Too bad I won’t be the recipient… sigh… am jealous now…

I love this, the symmetrical forms of blackwork are so pleasing to look at, with the lovely colours from the thread.
